60 Miles for 60 Years: A Challenge to Honor Survivors and Remember Lost Loved Ones

Janis Horn Makes a Birthday Ride and Joins the Fight to Cure Cancers

This Wednesday, ThinkCure! Supporter Janis Horn is going to bike 60 miles for her 60th birthday, and take action in the fight against cancer. Read on for a personal letter from Janis explaining what she's doing and why it matters.

Dear Family and Friends,

Awhile ago, I purchased a road bike and decided I wanted to embark on a new life style. I hired a trainer, Joe Masiello and got to work.

When Roger asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I decided I wanted to ride my bike one mile for each of my years. I will do the math for you…60 miles!

Here are some of the details. I am riding Wednesday, June 9, 2010. I will be starting at seven o'clock in the morning, from Port Hueneme and going thirty miles up the coast and returning. You are all cordially invited to ride along with me.

The next part of the celebration is the most important and where you come in. I'm taking action against cancer and am cycling to benefit ThinkCure! ThinkCure! is a nonprofit charity that funds collaborative cancer research at City of Hope and Childrens Hospital, Los Angeles.

By riding for ThinkCure!, I am honoring cancer survivors, and paying tribute to my mother, Naomi Feldman, dear family friend, Jamen Amato and friends Steve and Steven Cannata.

I encourage you to send me names of those in beloved memory you would like me to honor as I will be wearing these names on my jacket.

Please help celebrate my birthday ride by donating to ThinkCure!. Every donation helps, no matter how small.

Please visit: www.firstgiving.com/JanisHorn to donate.

I encourage you to pass this letter on to anyone who has been touched by cancer.

With my love and deepest appreciation,

Janis
