Hollywood Shows Support for ThinkCure! RadioTeleWebethon

PRIME TICKET's eight-hour telecast today to feature more than a dozen celebrity endorsements

Some of Hollywood’s top celebrities have lent their names to the second annual ThinkCure! Radiotelewebethon today and tomorrow, August 21 and 22. The Jonas Brothers, Larry King, Rob Lowe, George Lopez, Nathan Followill from the band Kings of Leon, and WWE Superstar John Cena are just some of the celebrities who have recorded messages in support of ThinkCure!, an innovative, community-based non-profit that accelerates collaborative research to cure cancer.

King will share his own personal stories and encourage fans to make donations live on PRIME TICKET during the six o’clock hour this evening. Fans will also hear from actors Zooey Deschanel, James Van Der Beek, Brian Baumgartner, and Tom Green, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, and boxer “Sugar” Shane Mosley during this weekend’s broadcasts on KABC 790 AM, PRIME TICKET, KCAL 9, 95.5 KLOS FM, and www.thinkcure.org.

The Cowsills musical group, well known for hits such as “The Rain, The Park and Other Things" and “Hair," will perform live at Dodger Stadium from 11:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. today. Their performances will be shown as part of PRIME TICKET’s eight-hour telecast from 11 a.m. 7 p.m amidst stories from Dodgers players, coaches, and front-office members, and the doctors, researchers, and patients of City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Longtime record producer, singer, and songwriter Steve Tyrell will perform the national anthem and God Bless America tonight. Tyrell, who lost his wife to cancer, recently recorded his own version of the hit song, "What the World Needs Now," and has offered it to benefit ThinkCure! The song features Martina McBride, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, and Dionne Warwick.

Fans can make donations to the Dodgers’ official charity online, by calling (866) 554-CURE, or by texting JOIN to 90999 (standard messaging rates apply). Last season, the inaugural Radiotelethon raised more than $165,000 for ThinkCure!

A new element has been added for the 2009 Radiotelewebethon, as thinkcure.org is streaming the names of contributors and amounts raised in real time, along with other video content, which began this morning at 5:00 a.m.
